Makers of Israel: Supporting Makers & Small Businesses
While living in Tel Aviv from 2021-2023, I hosted a weekly solopreneurs group in my apartment to learn from and help each other as we grew our businesses. One of the women from the group was Sara, who approached me last fall about gathering a group of North American-turned-Israeli women to explore how we could support Israeli small businesses and makers. Her vision resonated deeply with me. Up until then, my volunteer and fundraising efforts since October 7 had been short-term projects, and I was eager to be part of something more long-term. We recognized the need for a central hub for these incredible artists and small business owners.
A few months later, Makers of Israel was born.
The concept is simple: a curated marketplace featuring Israeli-made goods from artists and small businesses across the country. Every item tells a story—of resilience, of artistry, of a culture that refuses to be broken. By buying from Makers of Israel, customers aren’t just getting a beautiful product; they’re investing in the survival and success of Israel’s creative community.
Our marketplace is dedicated to supporting Israeli makers by providing them with a global audience while fostering a deeper appreciation for Israeli craftsmanship. You do not need to be Jewish to purchase from Makers of Israel. Our products range from Judaica to art, home decor, tableware, paper goods, and cooking classes.
Many Israeli makers and small business owners rely on tourism in Israel, and since October 7, there has been a huge decrease in visitors. In trying to find new revenue streams, these makers face obstacles such as limited marketing resources, high shipping costs, and language barriers to access new customers internationally.
That’s why we created Makers of Israel.
Last week we launched our Spring Collection including products for Passover including our Chag Table Box.
This endeavor has been really special to me:
Working with my incredible female co-founders who make me feel like a slacker because they’re such smart workers.
Discovering makers and small business owners — having the opportunity to learn their stories, connect with them and help support their endeavors.
Giving back to nonprofits and mission driven causes such as Citizen’s Kitchen and Bring Them Home.
Witnessing orders come in from customers around the world falling in love with our products and our makers stories.
Giving back to Israeli society in a meaningful way during a really challenging time.
Every purchase is an act of solidarity, a statement that we stand together.
